The bowler's last Test for the Kiwis was versus England in December 2024.
England bowling consultant Tim Southee is still working through what his involvement will be at the forthcoming Ashes contest in the host nation.
The former Kiwi pace bowler is expected to be available for the first Test because of his participation in the ILT20 competition, which starts on December 2 in the UAE.
Southee, aged 36, assumed a position as the English team's pace bowling advisor in the warmer months after taking 391 scalps in 107 Tests for New Zealand.
Commenting as England's team for the opening of three T20 matches against the Kiwis was announced, Southee said of his availability: "We're still working through that at the present time.
"We'll see what happens over the coming days."
English pace icon Broad had declared the Australia team as their "worst team since 2010", but the consultant was in little doubt over the anticipated challenge during the series, which starts on November 21.
"In my view there's at any time a poor Aussie side," Southee said.
"Our focus is firmly on our own objectives. I think the caliber of [the English] team that's going out to Australia is excellent.
"It should be an absolute cracker, that series. Not only [are|do] English and Australian people eagerly anticipate it, I think the entire cricketing community is."
But, before England head to Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they face New Zealand in the city of Christchurch on this Saturday.
